Burn Pit Registry Act of 2011
Yesterday, October 26, 2011, BurnPits360.Org released news that Congressman Todd Akin — R — Missouri, is seeking co-sponsors for the Burn Pit Registry Act of 2011. A reliable source informed me a press conference has been scheduled for November 3, 2011 to announce information regarding this important piece of legislation.
Dear Colleague Letter
The same source has allowed me to share Congressman Todd Akin’s dear colleague letter, requesting additional co-sponsors for the Burn Pit Registry Act of 2011. The letter states:
Please sign on to be an original cosponsor to legislation that is important to our veterans. Numerous veterans have suffered serious health problems after exposure to open burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan. This legislation will establish a registry, similar to the Agent Orange Registry and the Gulf War Syndrome Registry. This is the first step toward providing better care for veterans who have been affected by open burn pits.
This legislation is already supported by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), American Veterans (AMVETS) and the Association of the United States Navy (AUSN). And the issue of burn pits was recently reported on in the October 24th edition of USA Today (which can be found here) http://www.usatoday.com/news/military/story/2011–10-24/gulf-war-illness/50897804/1
This bill will also be introduced in a bipartisan/bicameral fashion with companion legislation being introduced by Senator Tom Udall (D-NM)
This bill is scheduled to be introduced on November 3rd, so please contact my office soon to become an original cosponsor.
W. Todd Akin
Member of Congress
We Must Act Quickly!
With the press conference scheduled for November 3, 2011, we must act quickly! Please contact your Congressman and Senators and let them know their constituents want this bill supported. This piece of legislation will hopefully prevent the 20 year delay on proper benefits and health care that Agent Orange victims from Vietnam suffered from. My health has been ravaged by burn pits and I believe this bill will help get us closer to the answers we deserve (Can these conditions be cured? Why did this happen? Who is responsible?).
A few officers from BurnPits360.Org will be in Washington D.C. for the press conference. To help this bill get passed, people need to be contacting their representatives immediately. Please pass this article on to as many people as possible. At the bottom of the post are options to share this article on a variety of Social Media websites. Please Use Them!
It’s time the American public is informed about the severe damage these burn pits are causing to members of our Armed Forces (including myself). Once again, here is the link to contact your Congressman and Senators. Their fax numbers are listed. If you don’t have access to a fax machine, please click on the name of your Congressman or Senator and you will be redirected to a contact form that goes directly to the representative. If you are unsure of who your Congressman or Senator is, please click here. Simply enter your zip code and it will inform you who your representatives are. Let them know how important the Burn Pit Registry Act of 2011 is and ask them to support the bill.
If you have any questions, please contact me at anytime. I always attempt to respond within 12 hours. Act quickly though because time is running out!
